CONCUSSION CARE
Helping you understand, recover, and return to life with confidence.
Concussion recovery is not linear. At FLUID, our clinicians provide structured, evidence-informed care that helps you make sense of your symptoms, understand your recovery pattern, and return safely to work, school, sport, and daily life.
Whether your injury is recent or lingering, our approach focuses on identifying why symptoms persist and what systems need support to move forward.

Why No Two Concussions Feel the Same.
Meet physiotherapist, Daragh Doyle
No two brains are the same. This is also why the brain you bring into the accident can have a significant impact on recovery outcomes and timeline.
Every concussion can affect a different or overlapping combination of systems in the brain and body.
These patterns are called phenotypes, a term used to describe how your injury shows up through specific clusters of symptoms.
By identifying which systems have been impacted, we can provide more targeted treatment interventions and more effective recovery during, after, and between sessions.
Daragh’s treatment approach to concussion care is grounded in evidence-based practice and systems integration. He works to identify the underlying drivers of symptoms by assessing the interactions between the brain, visual system, vestibular system, autonomic nervous system, and cervical spine. He utilizes both diagnostic technology and detailed bedside assessments to identify system dysfunction and guide treatment planning.
Rehabilitation programs are highly individualized and designed to restore capacity, improve stability and systems integration, and rebuild your foundations step-by-step.
Daragh generally works with patients aged 18 and older.

Why is Concussion Care Important?
Recovering from a concussion is more than just waiting for symptoms to go away. After an injury, the brain goes through a temporary energy imbalance that can affect things like vision, balance, focus, and how the nervous system functions.
Even when you start feeling better, these systems may still need support. Concussion rehabilitation helps the brain recover properly, reduces the chances of symptoms lingering, and supports a safe return to school, work, and sport.
In the early stage (first ~30 days), the focus is on keeping activity below your symptom threshold. If symptoms start to increase, it’s important to pause and use simple calming strategies to help settle things down. Beyond this point, we often introduce the “2-point rule,” where a small increase in symptoms (up to 2-points of 10 increase on a 10-point scale) is allowed during activity, as long as it doesn’t go beyond that.
This gradual approach helps rebuild nervous system capacity, while avoiding setbacks that can happen when symptoms are consistently pushed through.
Meet chiropractor, Dr. Eve Dibaco
Dr. Eve has completed her concussion training with CCMI. Her approach is movement-based and rooted in evidence-informed practice, with a focus on restoring function through guided, progressive activity. She emphasizes how the visual, vestibular, autonomic, cervical, and sensorimotor systems work together during movement, using this integration to support individualized recovery and a safe return to daily activity and sport.
Dr. Eve generally provides care for patients aged 18 and under, with a focused approach to return-to-sport rehabilitation.
COMMON MYTHS
What you’ve heard isn’t always what’s true about recovery.
Rest is required for the first 24-
48 hours and then reintroduction
of activity coupled with a sub-
threshold aerobic program is
required.
"REST IT BEST"
Staying in a dark room reduces all
the sensory input to our brain.
Over a prolonged period of time
this will actually impede our recovery.
"STAY IN A DARK ROOM UNTIL THE SYMPTOMS
GO AWAY"
Yes, healing does take time.
However, contacting a knowledgable provdier as soon as possible for appropriate guidance and active rehab can positively influence your recovery time.
"YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT AND WAIT, IT WILL IMRPOVE WITH TIME"
Incorrect, fewer than 10% of concussions result in a loss of consciousness.
"YOU MUST LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS TO
HAVE A CONCUSSION"
Standard imaging is usually normal.
Concussion is a termporary functional disturbance, not structual damage.
"IF MY CT/MRI IS NORMAL
I DON'T HAVE A CONCUSSION"
In the acute stage of concussion, symptom resolution can happen within 7-14 days, but full metabolic recovery can take up to 30 days.
